Small Wins

Updated: 4 days ago

Celebrating the Tiny Milestones of a Calm Day

When we are going through a difficult season, we often wait for the "big" victories to allow ourselves to feel successful—the day we move, the day a legal case ends, or the day the "fog" finally lifts for good. But if we only celebrate the finish line, we miss the beauty of the miles in between.

In the journey toward healing, small wins are everything. They are the proof that you are reclaiming your life, one hour at a time. Today, let's take a moment to celebrate the milestones that usually go unnoticed.

What Does a "Small Win" Look Like?

A small win is any moment where you chose peace over panic, or yourself over an expectation. You might have experienced a small win today without even realizing it:

  • A Quiet Morning: You sat with your coffee for five minutes without checking your phone or anticipating a problem.

  • The Power of "I’m Fine": You chose not to engage in an argument that would have drained your energy.

  • Self-Nurture: You made a healthy meal, took a walk, or went to bed early because your body asked for it.

  • A Genuine Laugh: You found something funny—a video, a memory, or a bird outside—and for a second, the weight felt lighter.

  • The Finished Task: You completed a simple chore that has been feeling "too heavy" for weeks.

Why These Moments Matter

These aren't just "little things." Each small win is a signal to your nervous system that it is safe to come down from high alert. Every time you experience a calm moment, you are retraining your heart to believe that peace is possible.

Think of these wins as "deposits" into a bank account. One or two might not seem like much, but over time, they build the wealth of a stable, quiet life.

The God of Small Beginnings

We serve a Creator who cares about the details. He is not just present in the parting of the Red Sea; He is present in the "still, small voice" and the "daily bread." He celebrates your progress, no matter how tiny it feels to you.

Word of Encouragement: "Do not despise these small beginnings.." — Zechariah 4:10

A Practice for This Evening

Before you go to sleep tonight, try to name three "Small Wins" from your day. They don’t have to be impressive to anyone else. They only have to be true for you.

Maybe you took a deep breath when you felt stressed. Maybe you kept your thoughts focused on something hopeful. Whatever it was, give yourself credit. You are doing the hard work of healing, and every calm moment is a victory.

Walking With You: Sometimes, the biggest "small win" is simply asking for help. If you’re ready to take that step, we are here to listen. No milestone is too small for us to celebrate with you.
